Psalm 22 captures the cry of a suffering believer, expressing David’s anguish as he wonders why God seems silent in his distress. More than just a psalm of lament, it is a prophecy of Jesus’ suffering on the cross. Unlike David, who only felt forsaken, Jesus was truly abandoned by God as He, though sinless, bore the weight of our sin. In an act of true love, Christ took on God’s wrath so that we, as sinners, could be forgiven. Because of His sacrifice and resurrection, we now have the hope of eternal life and a restored relationship with God.
